Promoting Resilience in Higher Education
Context
Murdoch University is situated in a southern suburb in Perth Western Australia. The School of Education offers Undergraduate, Graduate Diploma and Masters initial teacher education programs for Primary, Secondary and Early Years and a range of post graduate programs.
In 2017, most commencing students were enrolled in undergraduate programs with the largest enrolment being Early Childhood Education and Primary, followed by Secondary (including Sports Science). Murdoch students have the opportunity to engage in a range of diverse teaching and learning experiences and participate in virtual classroom experience – TeachLive – to develop classroom skills.
Murdoch prides itself on preparing pre-service teachers with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to teach in a wide range of diverse schooling contexts. The outcome of the wide range of placement experiences, opportunities to critique teaching, learning and assessment practices, and the personalised partnerships with schools, ensures Murdoch teaching graduates are ready for the profession, schools and classroom contexts that await them.
